Concrete Slab Preparation

A slab can look wonderful when the proper finishing techniques have been used but in order for it to remain looking that way it’s imperative that the proper groundwork be done ahead of time. This will keep the concrete slab looking its best for many years to come. When the prep work has been done properly, the slab of concrete may last for decades.

There must be a stable, solid base in place before pouring the concrete. Generally a compacted base of 15 to 20 cm is recommended but this will all depend on the existing soil that is there now and what the concrete slab is going to be used for. For example, if you’re going to be constructing the concrete slab for your driveway, you may require a deeper base in order to provide the best foundation possible.
